Luckily, the team behind Backbone read my mind as I now have their excellent controller to look at. I loved everything about it, but I always wondered how it compared to its peers. I have looked at many of these products and I’ve recently reviewed the Gamesir X2 Lightning device for Apple. These new services created a demand for new accessories, and, consequently, an array of controllers, clips, and other accessories flooded the market. Recently, Google and Microsoft played their hands, with the introduction of Stadia and XCloud for mobile devices. Most of our suggestions were derived from other issues people had with their hardware in the past from different game titles (Unreal Tournament, Fortnine, or recent SCUM).Mobile gaming and streaming directly to devices are the future. UE4 is primarily designed to work with DirectX 11, there may be something to do with your hardware where it causes a crash with that where it doesn't with DX12.Īt this point of time this issue lies between your hardware/hardware settings and Unreal Engine 4. If that does not solve it AND you have Direct X 12:ĥ) Make a shortcut on desktop and force the game to use Direct X 12 by adding:ĭ:\Your\Path\To\The\Game\Detective.exe -dx12

But, like I said, it does a poor job of assigning which GPU to use, and to avoid any possible issues it's better to just have it use the Nvidia GPU exclusively. If you have an additional GPU like the Nvidia GPU then they try to use it in a way that saves power-basically if it thinks that a program can run on the Intel GPU then it wants to use that and it will use less electricity (making your battery last longer and your computer not heat up so much). Instead of assigning a GPU specifically for a program you need to set it to use the Nvidia GPU for everything, there's an option at the top where you can do that.
#Backbone game windows
If after that the game does not launch, try this:Ĥ) Go into the Nvidia Control Panel and set it to use your Nvidia GPU only.īy default it will try to switch between using the integrated Intel GPU and the Nvidia GPU, but that can cause some issues because Windows isn't very good at it, so it's best to just force it to use the Nvidia GPU always. Yes, in short this is what seems to resolve this issue for different UE4 games.Ģ) Disable power saving mode in your Windows settings.ģ) Disable Battery Boost in NVIDIA GeForce Experience. To play it I should plug my Laptop into the power. It's like waiting for a girl and then she kicks you in the balls.Īs this is hardware related issue, unfortunately there is not much we can do. I was so waiting for this game, and then this.
#Backbone game full
I hope the full game won't give me the same issues, because the demo doesn't even open a game window for me.

I'm no tech-savvy, but I don't think Uninstalling would solve the problem. When I try again NOW, same prompt, "this game requires Microsoft C++" or something ,okay, but then, UE4Window for uninstalling. My steam library that shows "Backbone: Prologue - Running" suddenly changes into "Backbone: Prologue" and that's it. Appears a window about UE4 Prerequisites (I assume it stands for Unreal Engine).
#Backbone game install
it says I need to install Microsoft C++ something, I say ok. I disabled the Laptop's power saving mode, and I had to look up "Nvidia control panel", looked at the global settings, and on the options for power saving, I chose "Prefer Maximum Performance" which is described to possibly increase power consumption. I plug my laptop into power, full 100% battery. Please, make sure that you plug your laptop into the power, and disable any power saving mode. This is a well known issue related to NVIDIA, experienced with multitude of game titles.Īs this is hardware related issue, unfortunately there is not much we can do. Shouldn't you fix this issue to allow us to play the game instead of us changing settings to play your game? We also experienced this, as had few team members using mobile graphic cards. The main problem is that any kind of power saving mode is treated by UE4 as an obstruction of some sort, and generally causes errors. It's a common issue that is happening with all NVIDIA mobile cards, and should be recreatable with any game on UE4. Generally this problem appears with all laptops + NVIDIA cards, that are following few basic patterns:ģ) Have Battery Boost enabled in NVIDIA GeForce Experience.
