There is something that is still capping my download speed at 500Mbps. I read through all the related posts and followed the troubleshooting below. Now with the ER-X-SFP I'm only able to achieve 512Mbps on the dowload, where the upload is the same. Previously, with the USG and Unifi Switch 8 I was able to consistently speed test in the 900Mbps / 39Mbps range. I'm currently on Comcast Gigabit Tier plan (1000/35Mbps). The SFP port (eth5) has a 10GTek 1000Mbps SFP module (Ubiquiti 10/100/1000 module on order). I added a single port forwarding TCP rule, and changed the default subnet to 10.0.1.0/24. I configured the ER-X-SFP using the wizard WAN 2LAN2 to create WAN on eth5 and LAN on switch0. The main address for it is 1.1.1.1, with an alternate of 1.0.0.1.I recently replaced a USG and Unifi Switch8 for a ER-XSFP in my network panel. If you trust Google less than your ISP, you can also use CloudFlare’s DNS, which claims to be the fastest and takes a privacy-first stance. The most common is Google’s Public DNS, which use the addresses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

Comcast’s DNS servers support DoH and work with Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. In the U.S., Mozilla Firefox is automatically enabling DNS over HTTPS and using Cloudflare’s DNS servers. If you haven’t changed it manually, this is probably the case with your browser and operating system. Most home network connections are configured by default to use the ISP’s DNS servers, which probably don’t support DoH. However, even if you enable DoH in your browser, it’s up to the DNS provider to implement it. It’s just a more secure protocol, and everyone should use it. Aside from the privacy improvements, DoH prevents any tampering with DNS queries in transit.
